We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Anaesthetic Practitioner to join our Captain Sir Tom Moore Building Elective Orthopaedic Theatre service. We welcome applications with experience, newly qualified ODP's/RGN's or students who are due to qualify within the next 12 months. You will be fully supported with the adaptation to the department, including a preceptorship period for newly qualified candidates.
We are an elective orthopaedic department, with 5 Theatres, and 1 Procedure Room. We have recently completed our expansion, and successfully constructed our 5th Theatre and Procedure Room.
In March 2023, CSTM Theatres achieved a Gold Star Accreditation for Care & Excellence.
*** Shifts are: 1 x 8am -7pm, 3 x 8am -5.30pm, total of 37.5 hpw. Currently working Monday to Friday with a potential of expanding to weekend working in the future ***
Main duties of the job
As a Theatre Anaesthetic Practitioner, you will be an integral part of the patient's perioperative journey by:
Possessing excellent communication skills to promote patient safety, and theatre efficiency.
Working within the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to effective patient care.
Completing Perioperative Anaesthetic checks.
Participating in the Perioperative Management of patients.
- Completing designated theatre documentation, digital and paper formats.
Setting up the Theatre alongside the highly skill theatre team.
Contributing towards advocacy and patient centred care of patients undergoing a variety of Anaesthetic and Surgical Procedures.
Maintaining a clean, usable department, adhering to infection Control.
Having a willingness to learn, striving for professional development.
Possess a flexible approach to a fast-paced department, adapting to service requirements when necessary.
Having an enthusiastic attitude towards teaching, supporting students and colleagues.
- Completing E-Learning and regularly organised training.
- Reporting to the Team Leaders to complete daily theatre orientated tasks.

CSTM Theatres currently support a weekday only provision with future potential development for a weekend service.
We are a site with 5 laminar flow theatres and 1 Treatment Room and perform a wide range of Orthopaedic Surgery such as, Joint Replacements, Sports Injury, Trauma Injury and Elective Upper/Lower Limb Orthopaedic Procedures.
CSTM also performs a range of specialities alongside its Orthopaedic requirements.

Warrington HospitalThere are 8 Theatres on the Warrington acute site which provide services for the following specialties: Gynaecology, Obstetrics, General, Urology, Breast Surgery, ENT, Dental, Colorectal, Ophthalmic, Trauma & Orthopaedic, and Paediatrics.
We also provide a 24-hour Trauma, Obstetric and Emergency service. As part of this service, staff who are based on this site are required to support emergencies and provide an out of hours service including rotation onto nights and an on-call Rota.
Halton HospitalsThe Nightingale building is part of our elective general surgery hospital which has two theatres for a varied range elective specialities and Chronic Pain services.
The Nightingale building is also expanding their provisions by constructing extra theatres.
Captain Sir Tom Moore Building is situated adjacent to the Nightingale Hospital.
In return for your dedication and enthusiasm, we offer a fully supported Preceptorship and core competency programme, championed by our Perioperative Practice Education team. Continual Professional Development is available via both in-house and university-based training initiatives such as, Scrub/Circulating Courses, Advanced Life Support, and Mentorship, with regular CPD reviews to support progress in all aspects.
You will also have opportunities to work across site at the Nightingale Building, and Warrington Hospital (based on service requirements), where we support Childrens Surgery, and patients who may require higher levels of clinical support.
