Job summary

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS FT has an exciting opportunity to join us as our Deputy Director of Governance, this role is pivotal to the Trust's continued improvement journey.

The Deputy Director of Governance will be part of the Chief Nurse's Team and will also work closely with the Medical Director across all the domains of quality governance . You will hold portfolio accountability and line management responsibilities to enhance the Trust's performanceincluding Registration compliance and Accreditation, patient safety, legal services, clinical effectiveness and audit, quality governance and risk.

The successful candidate will be an experienced, self-motivated leader who is able to act on their own initiative, achieving outstanding performance as a role model whilst demonstrating the Trust's values and behaviours.

They will have a commitment to improve clinical outcomes and personal experiences of patients and service users by developing and embedding risk management systems and processes, education and training strategies and promoting a quality-focused and just culture.

Main duties of the job

The Deputy Director of Governance will have a key role in leading quality governance systems to support the consistent delivery of high-quality safe care for every patient in every area of the Trust. They will do so by having oversight on a Trust wide basis ensuring systems are developed and to ensure that all governance is comprehensively assessed, appropriately planned, effectively implemented and evaluated according to agreed policies, procedures and guidelines e.g. CQC / NHSE / HSE / NICE / Information Governance Toolkit /PSIRF etc

On behalf of the Chief Nurse and the Medical Director, the Deputy Director of Governance will provide leadership and line management support to the quality governance and support teams. They will also provide strategic leadership and support to the Care Group Governance Leads in their roles and the corporate departments.

The Deputy Director of Governance leads the Trust's relationships and communication with external organisations and partners across the system on quality, risk and patient safety, including ICS, CQC, Healthwatch, Scrutiny Committee for Health, NHS England/Improvement, HSE, NICE, HSIB, NHS-Resolution and the Coroner.
