Job summary

Are you passionate about making a real difference to patient care and supporting staff to deliver positive sustainable change? We have an exciting opportunity for two highly motivated individuals to join our forward-thinking, friendly, and supportive team as Continuous Quality Improvement Lead. This is a varied and interesting role; a typical day may involve working with senior leaders and clinicians to identify improvement priorities and plans, delivering training on QI methodologies, developing measurement plans and analysing complex data, coaching frontline teams to apply QI tools and techniques, and supporting the development of QI team members. The successful post holders will play a key role in delivering our ambition to embed a culture of continuous improvement, learning and innovation.

Main duties of the job

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation, from board to ward and beyond, the successful candidate will provide leadership and QI expertise to a portfolio of projects, supporting the delivery of an ambitious, effective, and responsive improvement programme linked to Trust priorities. You will establish strong relationships with staff at all levels, offering coaching and training to support them to develop their improvement skills and to drive continuous improvements in their own areas.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an individual with a talent for improvement to take WHH to a new level of achievement. The post holder will have a key role in delivery of the organisations quality and improvement priorities as described in our Quality Strategy.

WHHs Quality Academy works to improve quality for people in hospital through a programme of quality improvements, research, innovations, data, training and collaboration. The Academy is based at the Warrington Hospital and includes a small core team of improvement staff, alongside Clinical Audit, Effectiveness, Research & Development, and Knowledge & Library Services.

The Continuous Quality Improvement Lead will work with partners across the Quality Academy and wider Trust to design, deliver and evaluate quality improvement programs, incorporating an agreed improvement plan and the associated measurement and monitoring strategy to track progress and demonstrate continuous improvements in healthcare service delivery.

The post holder will work closely with the wider QI team providing leadership and QI expertise to ensure delivery of a portfolio of work focused on driving continuous improvement at service levels. They will need to build strong relationships with Trust stakeholders and partner organisations including clinical and non-clinical services.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within a senior/leadership role within the acute sector in the NHS
  • Experience of Managing QI projects using QI methodology and tools and conduct small-scale change using PDSA cycles
  • Experience of delivering QI trainings and training evaluation process
  • Leading and supporting multidisciplinary working to achieve improvement results
  • Evidence of coaching or mentoring quality improvement projects, preferably within health or care sector or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Experience of working in organisations other than the acute sector in the NHS, e.g., CCG/Place, Local Government and or voluntary sector or substantial experience of joint working
  • Experience of working with partner organisations

Qualifications

  • Qualification in management, or a related subject (health studies, human factors, quality improvement, project management) to Masters level or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Quality improvement training qualification, or relevant work experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
