Main duties of the job
The role will support the Corporate Assistant Accountant in the provision of financial information, analysis, and advice to budget holders.
You will support with the production of monthly financial management, analysis and advice to budget holders.
You will also assist in the budget setting process and reporting systems that enable an effective financial management service to the Corporate Divisions.

Job responsibilities
1. To support the team in the production of monthly financial management information to facilitate the production of monthly reports to the Trust and other appropriate bodies.
2. Assist in the identification and investigation of any variances in expenditure from budget and report on findings or conclusions to the Corporate Assistant Accountant.
3. To ensure on a monthly basis that appropriate accruals for recharges and other adjustments are accurately reflected in the Trusts financial position.
4. Assisting in monitoring manpower budgets, staff changes and liaising with budget holders as necessary.
5. To provide financial analysis, and appropriate documentation for meetings and attend as necessary.
6. To assist with and provide ad hoc analysis to both finance and non-finance managers.
7. Assist in the preparation of annual revenue budgets for divisions ensuring consistency with the financial objectives and plans of the Trust.
8. Establish good relationships with the Corporate Divisions, Clinical Business Units and other NHS bodies.
9. Assist in providing finance training to non-finance staff to ensure financial management of the Trusts resources is managed in an effective way.
10. Exercise independent judgement and initiative when problems arise and take appropriate action to resolve or if unable to resolve pass to an appropriate person.
11. To work as part of a team with the ability to adapt to different situations.
12. Planning and prioritising own workload to meet deadlines including, month end reporting, budget setting and payroll information.
13. Regular use of the computerised general ledger system, supplies system and payroll system in order to answer queries from budget holders and other managers.
14. To assist in the processing of all monthly interfaces (financial information from 3rd party systems, example- Payroll, Pharmacy and NHS Supply Chain) to the main financial system.
15. The design and creation of spreadsheets to provide information to finance and non-finance managers.
16. Write and maintain desk procedure notes for own area of responsibility.
17. Ensure all correspondence is appropriately dealt with and comprehensive files are maintained and regularly updated.
