The Acute Medical Therapies
Team at Warrington and Halton Hospitals is delighted to be able to offer an
opportunity for someone with good communication skills and a desire to work
with patients in an acute care setting to join our service.
We are looking for a Band 3 Therapy Assistant to join our diverse team of
Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants to support in
the delivery of therapy to inpatients across the acute medical bed base. This includes working in areas such as Older
Persons Care, Cardiology, Medicine, and Dementia Care. The post
will involve communicating with patients who may have communication
difficulties and you will need to have good verbal and written communication
skills. We are a large and friendly
team, able to offer ongoing support, regular team meetings, and supervision as
part of your career development.

Main duties of the job
Based within the Acute Medical Therapies Team you will work under the
instruction of a qualified therapist to deliver basic assessments and
treatments, this may require at times to work independently in clinical areas. The post will require you to communicate and
interact with multiple disciplines such as nursing staff, health care
assistants, social workers, and doctors.
As a part of the inpatient journey regular contact is made with patients
next of kin, friends and family, the successful post holder will need to be
able to communicate with these people in a caring, confident, and professional
manner in face-to-face conversations and over the telephone.
The working hours for this post will be 37.5
hours - over 5 working days which will include a Saturday working rota.
Based across
the Trust sites for therapy services including Warrington Hospital, Lovely
Lane, Warrington WA5 1QG and Halton Hospital, Hospital Way, Runcorn WA7 2DA
About us
The Acute Medical Therapies Team
deliver care to a wide variety of disciplines across the Warrington and Halton
Hospitals bed base. These disciplines
include Frailty / General Medicine / Cardiology / Dementia Care / Sub Acute
Care. The team is an integrated mix of
Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist, Assistant Practitioners and Therapy
Assistants. The team works in a dynamic fashion to ensure rapid assessment,
treatment to prevent hospital associated deconditioning and successful
discharge using a Discharge to Assess pathway.

- Able to describe previous experience of working in a therapy setting.
- To be able to provide relevant supporting evidence of previous role in therapy setting such as a portfolio, completed personal review forms, up to date mandatory training record, etc.
PHYSICAL SKILLS (eg. use of tools, equipment, minute taking, advanced computer skills)

- Good general health.
- Physically able to work undertaking therapeutic handling skills with patients, including the use of hoisting equipment.
