We are looking for
a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist to take on a Professional Lead role in
the Pain Psychology team within Clinical Health Psychology &
Neuropsychology Services based in Exeter for 22.5 hours per week.
This post
represents an exciting opportunity for a qualified clinical or counselling
psychologist who would like to develop expertise and experience in a clinical
health psychology service setting and working alongside a dynamic
multidisciplinary team.
You will be
part of an innovative and supportive clinical health psychology &
neuropsychology service within the Trust serving the Royal Devon University
Hospitals. You will have access to professional support and potentially further
training initiatives linked to the job role.
The post
involves taking a leading role within a small team of other psychologists in
the pain service. There would be some
expectation of a level of contribution to the wider leadership of Clinical
Health and Neuropsychology Services / Integrated Psychological Medicine
Services.
The pain psychology
team is embedded within the multidisciplinary Pain Management Rehabilitation
Team (Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy) and works closely with consultant
and nursing colleagues. You will have
the opportunity to contribute to MDT meetings, work with other professionals
and be involved in delivering group interventions, as well as delivering
assessments and individual psychological therapies for people with persistent
pain.
Main duties of the job
- Ensuring the systematic provision of a high-quality psychological service to the Pain Service, RDUH Eastern and Northern, as a key component of the DPT Clinical Health & Neuropsychology Service to the RDUH and related community services.
- Providing clinical leadership for staff, trainees and volunteers employed by CHPN. Be aware of and demonstrate good governance, putting in place pathways and protocols where necessary.
- Providing line management, clinical supervision and training for staff within the service.
- To carry a highly specialist caseload of patients and providing advice and consultancy to patients and professionals.
- To actively triage more complex and high-risk referrals determining what psychological risks can and should be managed within the service
- To have a leading role within the MDT, working jointly with other key members of the multi-disciplinary pain team. This could be via consultation and supervision of the MDT, and also via joint clinical assessment where appropriate.
- Taking a broader psychological approach to developing the capacity of the workforce, inputting to planning and coordinating delivery of a range of activities that build capacity for psychological interventions in both Trusts including consultation, reflective practice, supervision and training.
