Are you passionate about improving the lives of older people and shaping dementia care with compassion and innovation? We're looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Practitioner Psychologist or Psychotherapist to work within our East and Exeter Older Peoples Community Mental Health Teams.
Primarily based in our Exmouth team, the role is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to multidisciplinary team working, delivering specialist psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions for older people with complex mental health needs, cognitive impairment, and dementia.
This role offers the opportunity to deliver trauma-informed interventions within a psychologically informed community setting, supporting individuals through collaborative formulation, relational practice, and reflective approaches.
You'd also be welcome to collaborate on a range of projects and contribute to supervision.

Main duties of the job
The Practitioner Psychologist/Psychotherapist provides specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention for older people presenting with complex mental health needs, dementia, and cognitive impairment. Within the CMHT, they contribute to multidisciplinary care planning, risk assessment, and support for carers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering evidence-based psychological therapies tailored to older people
- Developing collaborative formulations
- Contributing to service development, audit, and clinical governance
- Promoting parity of esteem and psychological thinking across the MDT
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialist psychological assessments and therapy
- Providing consultation and supervision to MDT colleagues
- Contributing to clinical placements for Trainee Psychologists and other Therapists
- Engaging in peer supervision and service development

systematic governance of psychological practice within the service / local
team.

will receive regular professional and clinical supervision in accordance with
Trust policy and Professional Practice Guidelines set out by the British
Psychological Society or appropriate designated Professional Body.

post holder will observe, and abide by all relevant Professional Codes of
Conduct and Practise including the British Psychological Society or appropriate designated Professional Body.
