Job summary
We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join the ADHD Psychology team within the Devon Adult Autism and ADHD (DAANA) service. You would join our team for full time, providing psychological interventions to adults with ADHD, focused on helping them to manage ADHD symptoms and its impact in everyday life. There would also be CPD, service development and project work opportunities. Our guiding principle is to improve the lives of adults with ADHD, and we have developed innovative ways to support this client group, such as developing resources and an online self-help programme.
You do not need to be an expert in ADHD, we encourage applicants with a range of appropriate experience and we will support you to learn in the post. There are clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, senior mental health practitioners and non-medical prescribers in the team.
Most of our clinical work is online, but there is an expectation that you would be in the office for one day each week.
DAANA is a friendly team, passionate about providing high quality services for those with ADHD/ASC. ADHD and ASC are separate pathways within the service but we work alongside one another with a general focus on neurodiversity.

Main duties of the job
The principal purpose of the role is to improve the psychological health & wellbeing of people with ADHD and their support network, by helping them identify and manage their strengths and challenges due to their neurodiversity.
The post holder will:
1. Provide a psychological service within DAANA Services in Devon, as a key component of integrated mental health and wellbeing services to DPT and to community mental health services.
2. Deliver psychological interventions through 1-1 and workshop sessions, designed to enable people to better manage the symptoms and consequences of ADHD. Carry out assessments for the ADHD psychological interventions. Provide advice and consultancy to clients and professionals under the supervision and management of the ADHD Psychology team.
3. The post holder will be supported by senior colleagues within DAANA Services. The post holder will be expected to make good use of the expertise of others within the service to further develop their clinical skills with this client group
4. To work independently within a defined managed and occupational context. To work within professional guidelines and DPT procedures and protocols
5. Receive regular professional and clinical supervision in accordance with Trust policy and Professional Practice Guidelines set out by the British Psychological Society.
6. The post holder's role will be conducted in accordance with a value system of person-centred care, enhancement of client autonomy, social inclusion and dignity.
