Job summary

We are looking for new Patient Safety Partners to join Devon Partnership Trust Patient Safety team. Patient Safety Partners are an important voice for patients and communities and ensure that the patient, service user, carer, or family member perspective is at the forefront of all that we do to improve patient safety.

Devon Partnership Trust Patient Safety team supports the organisation to continuously improve patient safety. There is much positive change currently to support the development of a safety culture within our Organisation and this role will contribute to these efforts. Patient Safety Partners bring important views, perspective, and challenge, which help our teams to make healthcare services safer for all.

Main duties of the job

What you will be doing as a PSP:

  1. Working side by side with healthcare professionals, decision makers and experts on a variety of projects that match your interests, skills, and availability.
  2. Actively ensuring your perspective as an advocate, service user, carer, or patient is heard and has a real positive impact on healthcare.
  3. Learning new skills and knowledge and making connections with a wide range of people interested in patient safety.
  4. Influencing multi-professional groups and national and regional committees from the perspective of your patient, service user or community voice.

What you can expect as a PSP:

  1. Support including mentorship, training, and opportunities
  2. Opportunities to collaborate with other PSPs and NHS staff
  3. Most of the PSP role is undertaken during the working day and will usually be online using Microsoft Teams. You will be able to claim an involvement fee of £75 per half day (four hours or less) or £150 per day (more than 4 hours) for most of your involvement. You will also be able to claim for some expenses.
