Job summary
We are searching for a 30 hours per week Registered Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join us on Beech Ward based in Torquay, Torbay Hospital. Beech ward is a 16 bedded inpatient Mental Health Ward that supports primarily older adults with functional mental health difficulties.
We warmly welcome Band 5 applicants who have a desire to lead an Occupational Therapy service on Beech Ward. The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced multi-disciplinary team.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team in a service that has been rated as Outstanding by the CQC. Working alongside the Nursing Team, and within the MDT, you will ensure that service users receive a high standard of person-centred care which enables them to recover in a timely way.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Inpatient Occupational Therapist, your responsibilities include:
- Assessing and treating a specialist caseload of clients within the ward.
- Act as clinical OT within Beech Ward, ensuring effective planning and delivery of the service and manage a small team ensuring effective planning and delivery of the service
- To ensure supervision of OT staff within Beech to ensure a high standard
- Contribute to the development of high quality occupational therapy service through the professional clinical governance frameworks including audit
- Provide professional advice and expertise to the Beech multi-disciplinary team
- Report to Beech Ward Manager and OT Manager any OT and or professional issues and any operational issues.
