Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Nursery Nurse to join Jasmine Lodge in the role of Lead Nursery Nurse.
This is a fairly new position that has been developed over the past 2 years to support the small team of Nursery Nurses at Jasmine Lodge by delivering gold standard supervision and appraisal and support CPD with new and exciting training in line with CCQI and accreditation standards.
If you have skills, knowledge and expertise in the parent-infant relationship and you are Psychologically minded then this position will be appealing to you. This role will involve working closely with the psychological team and being part of the wider MDT and leadership team.
As the lead Nursery Nurse you will have an active lead role for safeguarding practices and procedures. You will have a responsibility to ensure that all of the babies on the ward are safeguarded against harm, this includes supporting the Nursery Nurse team in taking an active role in safeguarding referrals and ensuring that the team are adequately trained.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate sound clinical leadership skills.
The role will include regular review of operational policies and procedures to ensure that the quality of care that we are providing is safe and effective.
The lead Nursery Nurse will have an active role in ensuring that Jasmine Lodge are providing a specialist perinatal service, this includes specialist therapeutic activities and interventions.
Main duties of the job
The job will include the following:
- Completing management supervision and appraisals for the Nursery Nurses
- Actively working towards the unit meeting the CCQI standards
- Having clinical supervision with ward psychologist
- Providing clinical supervision to Nursery Nurses
- Attending leadership meetings
- Working directly with mothers, their baby and the wider family unit to ensure the care being provided is effective
- Having oversight of the care being provided to ensure the babies voice is being heard
- Ensuring that the universal care is being received for all babies on the ward
- Engage with Safeguarding supervision
- Contributing to ward policies and procedures
- Engaging in the referral process
- Support the ward therapeutic program alongside OT and PSW
- Maintaining clinical skills
