Job summary
Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) are seeking a Band 7 Family & Systemic Psychotherapist to join our compassionate and dedicated Eating Disorder Service. As part of our innovative and integrated model of children's community services, this is an exciting opportunity to work with children, young people, and their families who are experiencing eating disorders.
We welcome applications from qualified Family & Systemic Psychotherapists and those with intermediate qualifications who are committed to completing the MSc. In such cases, successful applicants will initially be employed on a Band 6 Trainee Family & Systemic Psychotherapist contract while training, progressing to a Band 7 Family & Systemic Psychotherapist role upon achieving full qualification.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist systemic assessments and evidence-based systemic therapeutic interventions to children, adolescents, and their families within the Eating Disorder Service.
Within this role, you will:
- Hold an appropriate caseload and undertake a key worker role for children and young people with eating disorders and complex needs in the community.
- Conduct assessments, including risk assessments, contribute to care planning, and deliver evidence-based interventions collaboratively with children, young people, and their families.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering evidence-based treatments for eating disorders.
- Collaborate across pathways and geographical areas as needed, ensuring that services are accessible and equitable for families across Devon.
- Ensure clinical effectiveness through the delivery of systemic interventions, routine outcome measures, goal-based practice, and collaborative care.
- Take part in service developments that reflect the needs of children and families, contributing to the continuous improvement of the Eating Disorder Service.
- Undertake further training to qualify as a Systemic Psychotherapist, leading to registration with AFT (Association of Family Therapy) upon qualification (if applicable).

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.
CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to consultation with our service users and communities.
CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training.
Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.
