The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Recovery Support Worker in
Russell Clinic the rehabilitation and recovery inpatient ward, based at Wonford
House, Exeter.
You will be working
with a dynamic, motivated and skilled team to provide occupation therapy
interventions to adults who experience complex psychosis. We
will enable you to learn the skills you need to thrive in the role, by offering
you training and
development opportunities. In
return, you will need to be motivated, flexible and eager to learn.
About you
This post is
suitable for an experienced Recovery Support Worker with experience of working
in an inpatient setting, or someone with experience of working with people with
enduring mental health diagnosis. Effective
communication is an essential skill for this role, so we expect you to have
excellent verbal and written skills. You will be expected to keep clinical
records up to date and be proactive in engaging with service users.
You will often
work under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for
someone confident and capable. You will prioritise tasks, and work as part of
the team to coordinate activities from a therapeutic timetable.

and an understanding of how this contributes to someones recovery.
Main duties of the job
Under the daily supervision of mental health practitioners, the post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of recovery care plans for adults with a range of mental health presentations in the a rehabilitation inpatient setting and community. This will involve working across agencies e.g. Vocational Services, Primary Care, Complex Care Teams and Third sector organisations.
The post holder will work intensively with people to support them on the ward initially and in their home, preventing hospital admission and facilitating hospital discharge
The post holder will be expected to work to a clearly defined personal recovery plan outlining their role and the range of interventions required. This will include a significant monitoring role of people on behalf of the team.

- Previous employment /experience of working with people with mental health in a caring situation or previous experience of working in different roles with mental health services.
- Awareness of safeguarding principles
- IT Skills
- Demonstrate an ability to make and sustain professional therapeutic relationships
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work with groups of people or as individuals
- Good written communication
- Ability to work in a team
- Demonstrate an ability and awareness to maintain professional boundaries
- Able to work, time management and complete records and record observations etc.
- To participate un unsupervised task, and provide accurate feedback to relevant polices
- To take leadership and direction from qualified staff.
- To demonstrate an ability to provide practical support with daily living activities and perform nursing tasks
- To be able to respond promptly to physical and mental health emergencies, to be able to think quickly and deal with situations in a calm and sensible manor
