This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative multi-disciplinary team, to support the development of a physical health monitoring service for people in Devon who have a moderate to severe eating disorder.
The Community Eating Disorder Service (CEDS) is a multi-professional team comprising of a Physician, Psychiatrist, Nurses, Psychologists, Dietitians and Assistant Practitioners. Each patient has a named clinician who supports them with their psychological health and wellbeing. The post holder will work alongside CEDS colleagues to ensure that the service can provide compassionate and holistic recovery focused care to address the complex physical and mental health needs people with eating disorders.
The successful candidate will be a motivated and compassionate person who, acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care to patients with eating disorders with direction and guidance from the Lead Nurse Practitioner. The focus of their role will be to support the physical health monitoring of people with an eating disorder and to undertake physical health checks for people as designated/identified in relation to their physical health needs. This might include being part of a clinical or outreach service to weigh, take bloods and to physically observe patients etc. The role will also provide psychoeducation to individuals in relation to eating disorders.
Main duties of the job
- To work alongside the lead physical health practitioner undertaking physical health monitoring in our clinics
- Undertaking the practical aspects of physical health monitoring i.e. weighing clients, taking bloods, measuring blood pressure and pulse.
- Undertaking initial psychoeducation with clients in relation to an eating disorder
- Supporting and motivating individuals to attend their physical health appointments
- Contributing to the team meetings and governance structures
