Job summary
The successful candidate will become chaplain to the six Wonford wards offering pastoral, spiritual, religious and cultural care to patients, staff and family / Carers. Alongside supporting the wards the chaplain will offer chaplaincy services to the Wonford House community.
The Senior chaplain will supervise the chaplaincy team based in the Wonford wards; both paid chaplains and volunteers.
This post is offered at 0.4 wte (15 hours per week)
Main duties of the job
- The primary role of the Wonford Senior Chaplain will be to be present on each of the wards on a weekly basis, building up a rapport with the patients and staff and responding to specific requests for support when they are received.
- The senior chaplain will maintain a visible presence not only on the wards but also around Wonford House, supporting staff and teams as needs arise.
- The chaplain will keep a watch over the multifaith space in the Wonford Chapel, updating and renewing materials as required.
- The senior chaplain will lead the Wonford chaplaincy team, communicating with them regularly about new patients or situations that have arisen, as well as supervising both chaplains and volunteer chaplains.
- The chaplain will be involved leading acts of worship, memorials or other services at Wonford when needed.
- The senior chaplain will play a full and active role in the wider chaplaincy team; attending team meetings, away days and other events as they arise.

- Registered member of the CHCC (College of Healthcare Chaplains)

- Working with people suffering from severe mental illness, an understanding of frameworks of support, along with understanding the boundaries that chaplains work within.
- Supporting family members and carers of people suffering from mental illness.

- Substantial experience of working in Healthcare chaplaincy
- Substantial ministerial pastoral experience
