Main duties of the job

We invite you to join us as a Specialty Doctor, a pivotal role situated within our esteemed Community Mental Health Teams, AMHP service, and Torbay Home Treatment Team. Based at the Torbay Hospital within the Haytor Unit, you will serve a population of approximately 78,535 patients of working age, ensuring their mental health needs are met with compassion and expertise.

The post holder will be based at the Torbay Home Treatment Team, Community Wellbeing Hub, Torbay Hospital within the Haytor Unit.

The post holder will be one of the assessing doctors as part of Mental Health Act assessments in the community or inpatient services in Torbay.

The post holder will be available 9-5 Monday to Friday.

The post holder will work under the direction of the Consultant Psychiatrist in Torbay HTT and expected to carry out urgent medical reviews.

The post holder will be section 12 MHAct approved either at appointment or after training. When section 12 approved, the post holder will be responsible for working with the AMHP service to coordinate the Trust response to Mental Health Act assessments in Torbay helping to ensure the principles of the mental health act are followed.

  • MB BS or equivalent
  • GMC registration.

Desirable
