Job summary

We are searching for a Band 6 Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse to join us on Beech Ward based in Torquay, Torbay Hospital. Beech ward is a 16 bedded inpatient Mental Health Ward that supports primarily older adults with functional mental health difficulties.

We warmly welcome Band 5 Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurses who are passionate about developing into a leadership role. The successful candidate will be supported by a team of experienced Band 6's and Ward Manager.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team in a service that has been rated as Outstanding by the CQC. Working alongside the ward manager, and within the MDT, you will ensure that service users receive a high standard of person-centred care which enables them to recover in a timely way.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will, in collaboration with the Ward Manager, ensure continuous clinical and professional development for ward staff through on the job coaching, mentoring, audit, regular supervision, and ward based training of less experienced staff.

The post holder will deputise for the ward manager as required and promote multi-disciplinary team working whilst leading predominantly on nursing issues and leadership.

  • Substantial post registration experience
  • Experience as a Band 5 in an acute inpatient setting.
  • Experience working within MDT.
  • Clinical supervision and mentoring experience.
