developing Liaison Psychiatry team.
Liaison
Psychiatry is the branch of psychiatry that specialises in the interface
between medicine and psychiatry.
Our service accepts
referrals from in-patient wards and the Emergency Department and these include
requests for specialist mental health assessments and interventions to people
of all ages from 18 to end of life. The
mental health presentations of those accessing our services are varied and
include self-harm as well as both functional & organic mental illness.
We provide a
24/7 comprehensive service to patients, clinicians and carers, covering the
following pathways.
We have a Practice Lead vacancy to support the development of the Integrated Psychological Medicine Pathway within Liaison Psychiatry at the RD&E Hospital.
This post is for a 18-month secondment or fixed term contract to cover
maternity leave.
We are looking for a motivated, experienced and innovative
practitioner who is committed to the on-going development of the service, and
who is passionate about the mental health care and treatment of those who
present to our service. You will require strong clinical leadership skills.

This
is an ideal post for either an experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioner
wanting to professionally develop or a current clinical lead who is seeking a
change of direction. In this important role you will use your extensive
clinical skills and experience as a mental health practitioner to lead on high
quality care, developing and sustaining compassionate leadership. Using
evidence based practice and routine outcome measures you will use a
strength-based approach to work collaboratively with all stakeholders.
Leading
on assessing and managing risk is a core part of this role, responding to
urgent need. Supervision of more junior staff and trainees is expected to be
part of your role as you share your skills and knowledge with those around.
This includes offering teaching and training to the acute trust to ensure we
are supporting safe practice for those with mental health needs.

The Practice Lead is responsible for ensuring compliance with quality & safety standards within their assigned clinical pathways within Liaison Psychiatry. They will ensure that all individuals receiving care and treatment from services do so in line with Trust and Host organisation strategic objectives (safe, timely, personalised, sustainable and recovery focused) and are safeguarded from any harm.
Quality improvement, audit, compliance with CQC & PLAN accreditation standards, serious untoward incidents, complaints and compliments and associated learning, and clinical practice education are the key responsibilities of this role. The post holder will ensure clinicians work within DPT policy and practice standards, and that they adhere to professional registration requirements.
The post holder will be an effective role model for clinical excellence across all the clinical pathways within Liaison Psychiatry. They will demonstrate visible leadership and take responsibility for ensuring a therapeutic environment, as well as leading on the professional development of the practitioners within the team.
The post will include developing professional links, offering supervision and training for acute staff and helping to develop and progress integrated pathways of care for all patients referred to the service.
The post holder will work to further improve practice, using the principles of positive risk management and new ways of working, and appropriate clinical pathways.
The post holder will be required to undertake regular clinical work which will be subject to an agreed job plan. As this vacancy is a secondment/fixed term for 18 months the role will be supporting the IPMS pathway to develop alongside the MDT but also include a number of tasks relating to the Acute Care Pathway and Inpatient Pathway within the DGH.
