Devon Partnership NHS Trust

The closing date is 05 July 2024

Job summary

CFHD are delighted to invite applications for a Trainee Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.

NHS England has confirmed funding for a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Traineeship in CFHD. The funding extends over six years to include a pre-clinical training course where required (0.2 WTE in Year 1 with a potential of 1 WTE in Year 2) plus 4 years of clinical training at an ACP-accredited training school (1 WTE).

This is an exciting opportunity for those already enrolled on a pre-clinical course who wish to pursue the clinical training. You will already be working with children and young people in a professional capacity and will have an interest in and some understanding of Psychoanalytical thinking.

Main duties of the job

  • The post has been allocated flexible funding for either 4, 5 or 6 years based on a bespoke package dependent on where the successful applicant is on their training journey. It can include:
  • The course fees for the 2-year pre-clinical psychoanalytic infant observation trainingWorking with children, young people & families: a psychoanalytic observational approach (M7)
  • Fees for personal psychoanalysis and travel expenses with an approved training analyst (5 years, 3 times a week in year 2 and then 4 times a week in years 3-6).
  • Doctoral course fees and travel expenses for the 4-year clinical training.
  • The option of being employed during the 2nd year of the pre-clinical training as an Assistant Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist within CAMHS at Band 6 WTE.
  • Employment as a Trainee Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist (Band 6 WTE) in Devon CAMHS for the subsequent 4-year clinical period
  • The successful applicant for the pre-clinical training would need to apply and be offered a place on one of the pre-clinical trainings recognised by the Association of Child Psychotherapists to start in September 2024. Those who have secured a place on this course, or who have completed a first year, will also be eligible to apply for the traineeship.
