As we expand our pathway we are looking for 2 Specialist Practitioner and Supervisors to join our Mental Health Support Teams pathway. We currently have an opportunity within our Torbay team for 4 days (30 hours) per week and an opportunity within our Mid Devon team for up to 5 days per week.

We are seeking supervisors with either a core qualification (teaching, social worker, nursing, accredited counsellor etc) or with a CWP/EMHP qualification alongside substantial experience within the role. We are looking for applicants to have substantial experience of working with children and adolescents within an education and/or health setting.

The role will include a part-time 1-year Post-Graduate Supervisor training course at the University of Exeter, a requirement for any applicants who don't already have the qualification. The University training is fully funded and successful candidates are released from the service to attend the course.

Successful candidates will provide assessments and hold a small caseload of children and adolescents with mild to moderate emotional and mental health difficulties, delivering evidence-based 1:1 and group interventions, employing the principles underpinning the national Children and Young Peoples Mental Health programme and the Whole School Approach alongside supervising a mix of Education mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner (CWPs).

Main duties of the job

Having the ability to adapt communication and intervention styles to meet individual needs is important and you will have knowledge of child development and child safeguarding procedures.

Using both evidence-based practice and routine outcome measures, you will use a strength-based approach to work collaboratively with young people, in line with key CYP-IAPT principles.

Key areas of focus for the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) Supervisor will be:

- EMHP and CWP Support and Supervision

- Delivering early, low-intensity interventions in accordance with the evidence base

- Building and maintaining relationships with the Designated Mental Health Lead and other key professionals in our partner schools

- Supporting the development of the MHST and CWP service

- Building positive relationships with our colleagues in wider CAMHS and other key agencies.
