In partnership with the Open University, we are offering suitable candidates the training and support they need to start working as a Nursing Apprentice. You'll join us as a Nursing Apprentice and undertake a programme of 4 years to achieve your Nursing Degree. Alongside part time study, for which funding is provided, you will be based in one of the teams working in our services across Devon.
You will also need to be prepared to work hard and undertake study in your own time as you work towards becoming a qualified Nurse. During the challenging course, you will top up your knowledge and skills from your current role as you work towards demonstrating your competence in the role of a Learning Disability or Mental Health Nurse.

If shortlisted, Mandatory attendance at a virtual briefing session to via MS Teams delivered by the Open University and Apprenticeship Team. Scheduled 29th April or 30th April or - am/pm sessions
Interviews will be held via MS teams between 20th -24th May 2024
Completion of the Trust/ OU's recruitment process
The academic programme is due to commence the first week in October 2024; however, we would expect staff to be in post before this date
Nursing apprentices completing the programme will be paid based on their current Agenda for Change Band 3 scale starting at £22,816 for stage 1 of the programme, After successful completion of stage 1 you will move into Band 4 £25,147
Eligibility Criteria for the Apprenticeship you must have
- Maths and English to GCSE grade 4/C or above, or equivalent in English and Maths, or level 2 Functional Skills
- Evidence of recent study to level 3 alongside relevant experience. Applicants with previous study at level 4 or higher will be considered on an individual basis
- Due to the current eligibility criteria for Government funded apprenticeship schemes, we are currently only able to accept applications from candidates who have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years, and who are not already in any form of Government funded education.
