Job summary

We seek a versatile Arts Therapist to work with ward and community clients, providing adaptive and integrative therapy approaches that meets the need of the person, and/or group. You will join a resilient and welcoming group of professionals that include other Arts Therapists and Clinical and Counselling Psychologists. You will liaise with the wider multi-disciplinary teams to represent the needs of you clients and the stance of good professional standards. You will be supported in you clinical professional development through supervision and training.

You will be offering assessments and therapeutic interventions to clients with severe and complex mental health problems. There will be opportunities for both individual and group work. The role is dynamic and may require you to attend multidisciplinary meetings and to offer supervision, consultation and training to the local CMHTs.

Main duties of the job

1. Providing a Psychological Therapy service to people as a key component of services provided by Devon Partnership Trust

2. Providing local clinical leadership, co-ordination and supervision for trainees and volunteers employed by or attached to the psychology and Psychological Therapies service, under the general direction and supervision of the Professional Lead

Carrying a specialist caseload of clients, and providing advice and consultancy to patients, family members, carers and professionals.

3. The post holder will be supported by senior colleagues within their specialist field. The post holder will be expected to make good use of the expertise of others within the service to further develop their clinical skills with this client group.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service / local team.

4. The post holder will receive regular professional and clinical supervision in accordance to Trust policy and to Professional Practice Guidelines set out by the British Association of Art Therapists, observe, and abide by all relevant Professional Codes of Conduct and Practice including the British Psychological Society. The post holder will be fully registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a condition of employment.

  • Art Therapy professional qualification to masters level or equivalent for long term practitioners, and other disaplins. Current HCPC arts therapies registration.

  • Experience, and/or training in diversity awareness and social inequality Experience of working under supervision in secondary care adult mental health services.
