you to apply for the Consultant Psychiatrist post in General Adult Community
Psychiatry, working in Exeter. The post is full-time but part-time/job-share
applicants welcome.
The post holder will be based at Wonford House in Exeter,
where they will have a dedicated private office with PC/laptop accessibility. A
medical secretary will be provided. You will be well supported by a dedicated
full-time medical staffing department.
This post is as a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist for
patients age 18-65 years old serving the University CMHT in Exeter. The
remaining clinical components of the role will be negotiated with the General
Adult Clinical Director and Chief Medical Officer following successful
appointment.
Within Exeter another three Consultant psychiatrists
provide similar services to the other Exeter PCNs.
Patient safety and Quality Improvement are key aspects of
the role and training will be provided if required. Programmed Activities are
negotiable for research, teaching, medical management and other special
interests.
This post is suitable as a first NHS consultant, an
existing or post-retirement consultant with a broad level of general adult
psychiatric expertise. International candidates are welcome to apply.
Experience of working in adult community mental health services is preferable
but support will be given to doctors wishing to move from other psychiatric
specialties or roles.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant
will offer assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients being managed by the
University CMHT, as well as other expert clinical services in support of
patients and their families/carers as judged necessary. They will also provide
leadership to the wider University CMHT.
You will take part in on-call rota and other consultants
from the area will be expected to provide cross-cover for leave.
We have excellent IT and full electronic record across our services and are in the process of a clinician-led design of our own clinical record system.
A mentor and peer group will be provided. You will have 2.5 Supporting Programmed Activities (10 hours a week) to support your professional development, attend your monthly peer group, quarterly medical advisory committee and local post-graduate meetings.
Approved Clinician status at appointment is preferable but those who would be eligible eg doctors applying from abroad, will be supported to obtain this authority.
