Job summary
Due to investment in our service, we are looking for CAMHS clinicians who have a specialist interest in working in an under 18s drug and alcohol service in Devon. YSMART is a county wide service that includes a range of professionals with considerable experience in this field. The successful applicant will be working with young people in the context of their family, their educational setting and the wider health community.
Based in South Devon, we are looking for a Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioner who can bring skills, experience and enthusiasm to meet the needs of children and young people with substance misuse issues, and potential complex emotional and mental health needs in the community.
This role has been created to provide assessments for young people who have been admitted to hospital due to alcohol related incidents. The role will include flexible working as the aim is to be able to provide assessment at weekends and out of hours to minimise hospital admissions and ensure that young people have timely referrals to specialist services. We welcome applicants interested in a mixed model of remote and locality working.
The role will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to work with dedicated teams with ongoing training and supervision.
Main duties of the job
You will be an experienced and qualified CAMHS professional (RMN, Social Work, Occupational therapist or equivalent). You will be able to work alongside colleagues in a multi-disciplinary team and develop relationships across agencies to meet the needs of children and families with complex needs. The ability to adapt communication and
intervention style to meet individual need is important and you will knowledge of child development and child protection procedures.
Managing risk and being able to assess drug and alcohol presentations in the community are a core part of this role and the ability to respond to both urgent and routine, planned and unplanned need. You will be required to work flexibly across a range of clinical, community and home base settings to meet the need of the children and families that we work with.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about working with children and young people in the community. Someone who has considerable knowledge of drugs and alcohol and the impact that it has on young people, families and the wider community.
There are opportunities for training in evidence-based interventions such as DBT, Motivation Interviewing, Trauma informed practice and you will receive regular supervision and appraisals.
