An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Occupational Therapist to join Coombehaven Ward at The Cedars in Exeter.

Your clinical work will involve working with service users with severe/complex mental health needs, using occupationally focussed evidence based assessment and skills to provide therapeutic interventions. You will be supported by a Senior Occupational Therapist and an onsite Occupational Therapy Team Manager. There are plenty of opportunities for professional development, through our trust-wide OT training program, the Trusts preceptorship programme, and supporting the implementation of the VdT MoCA on the ward. You will also have an opportunity to access the trust-wide Band 5 Occupational Therapy Peer Support Group.

Main duties of the job

The team aims to provide a recovery focused Occupational Therapy (OT) service to support people to reengage with their ordinary lives.

This post will be to work as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary within an inpatient team based on sixteen bedded ward.

Patients have multitude of mental health diagnoses and difficulties. You will assess and treat patients both individually and use group work in a variety of environments including their home.

The successful applicant will be expected to work at a good pace, be flexible and creative in approach and work independently.

You will be supervised by the lead OT and will supervise an OT assistant.
