Main duties of the job
In these
teams we support adults (aged 18 and over) who have a learning disability and
are not able to access mainstream health services, in various settings. We
provide intensive support to people who may be experiencing high levels of
distress which may put their placements at risk, or who may require admission
to an assessment and treatment unit. Our core
business as Occupational Therapists is specialist assessment and intervention
to ensure people are meaningfully engaged to maximise health and wellbeing. In this role you will
be supporting the Occupational Therapists and Multi-Disciplinary Team with the
assessment process, delivering care planned interventions and evaluating
outcomes. This includes gathering information, carrying out aspects of assessments,
documentation and formulation, producing resources and engaging individuals in
therapeutic activities. You will be supported and supervised by an
Occupational Therapist and will be able to access peer support with the
Technical Instructor team across the Learning Disability
Occupational Therapy Service. The role involves a mixture of working from home,
in office bases and face to face visits in the community.
During
your studies at UWE Bristol you will gain
evidence-based knowledge and skills to establish yourself as an occupational
therapist and spend at least 1,000 hours on practice placements in different
workplace settings. You will
need to be prepared to work hard and also undertake study in your own time.
