Job summary

Are you someone looking to start a career in one of the UKs most respected mental health trusts?

Would you like to do a job that makes a difference every day?

We are looking for an Occupational Therapy Team Manager to join the Occupational Therapy team based at Langdon Hospital, in Dawlish.

The role is dynamic, varied and challenging. The successful candidate will sit within the senior leadership team for the Occupational Therapy service, providing daily operational management for the team, delivering clinical and line management supervision to team members; chairing team meetings; leading on service development and holding a small caseload across the site.

The Occupational Therapy service provides a diverse range of opportunities for the individuals we work with, and this role plays a pivotal part in the continuing development of the service we offer, including building community links, development of site based small group sessions and occupational therapy interventions.

We have developed our internal Occupational Therapy continuing professional development programme which the successful candidate will have a key role in leading, developing and facilitating; we will support you to learn the skills you need to thrive in the role and we will offer you the training and development support you need to be successful. In return, you will need to be motivated, flexible and eager to learn.

Please note the interview date will be 29th March 2023

Main duties of the job

You will work within both an Occupational Therapy team and also wider multi-disciplinary teams, where you will be required to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will have line management experience and be able to deliver effective clinical supervision.

The role requires experience and competence at developing and implementing effective systems and processes to support the day to day running of the inpatient Occupational Therapy service, along with knowledge around governance and performance management.

The role requires you to interact with patients, carers and wider stakeholders, and you will need to be confident in sharing appropriate levels of information and advice that improves their experience. Dealing with sensitive information daily, you will understand the importance of data security.

You will often work under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for someone confident and capable. You will prioritise tasks, and manage your own workload, providing support for your colleagues where required.

You will become an important part of the team, working to ensure that every patient receives high quality care. You will be required to support the induction of new staff member, be involved in recruitment and retention plans and ongoing staff development, including staff development pathways and training programmes.
