Job summary

This is a great opportunity to join the Support To Succeed Team which is part of the Offender Personality Disorder pathway. The National OPD pathway is a collection of services based in prisons and probation, where NHS and HMPPS work together with to increase the wellbeing and reduce the risk of offenders, whilst also improving the knowledge and attitudes of staff working with them.

Support to Succeed is part of the National Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway and is a joint service provided by Devon Partnership NHS Trust and HM Prison and Probation Service. Our purpose is to reduce levels of re-offending as well as improving offenders psychological health and wellbeing. The service achieves this by 1. Consultation services - Providing support directly to Probation Practitioners through consultation on individual cases with the opportunity for joint working, practice support and training. 2. Intensive Integrated Risk Management Service (IIRMS) Which is a community based service, working directly with people who have screened onto the OPD pathway who are considered high-risk individuals when leaving prison, to support them with successful transitions in to the community. The role will consist of working on an individual and group basis with those on caseload to support them to achieve outcomes jointly outlined on their personal development plan. You will work with the team to educate and support those needing specific Occupational Therapy interventions.

Main duties of the job

The role and workload is dynamic and challenging. The service is still developing, you will need to be able to adapt to this

You will be working in an enthusiastic team of Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and a Peer Support Worker. It is important to the service to ensure the team are working cohesively and effectively together. The service dedicates time to team development and you will participate in this through reflective practice, team activities, and mindfulness sessions. You will need excellent communication, reflection and critical appraisal skills when working alongside colleagues in this setting.

The Occupational Therapy role and team within the service is still developing, and you will have the exciting opportunity to develop this further using your own skills and experience from prior roles to shape this.

You will often work under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for someone confident and capable. Working within this client group can often be intense therefore it is important that you utilise supervision and reflective practice to support your own wellbeing.

You will be a registered Occupational Therapist with appropriate qualifications and experience. Experience working within a prison or secure environment would be beneficial.

Please note: Due to the nature of this post, all persons have to receive prison vetting clearance prior to formal offer of appointment. This is in addition to DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) checks.
