An exciting
opportunity has arisen and we are looking for a Band 7 Practice Lead who can
bring the skills, experience and enthusiasm required to effectively lead and
manage others in order to meet the needs of people referred to the Liaison
Psychiatry service.
Liaison
Psychiatry is the branch of psychiatry that specialises in the interface
between medicine and psychiatry. Our Service provides a core 15 Liaison
Psychiatry Service (7am to 10pm weekdays, 9am to 10pm weekends and bank holidays)
to patients, clinicians and carers at North Devon District Hospital. This
includes specialist mental health assessment and intervention to people of all
ages from the age of 18 who present or are admitted to the DGH.
We provide a
specialist consultation liaison service to referring clinicians and clinical
teams. We assisting in decision making in difficult and complex cases, and
providing both formal and informal education to qualified and unqualified
staff. We additionally offer a broad range of specialist psychosocial treatments
for individual inpatients.
Main duties of the job
The Practice Lead is responsible for ensuring compliance with quality & safety standards within their assigned clinical pathways within Liaison Psychiatry. They will ensure that all individuals receiving care and treatment from services do so in line with Trust and Host organisation strategic objectives (safe, timely, personalised, sustainable and recovery focused) and are safeguarded from any harm.
Quality
improvement, audit, compliance with CQC & PLAN accreditation standards,
serious untoward incidents, complaints and compliments and associated learning,
and clinical practice education are the key responsibilities of this role. The
post holder will ensure clinicians work within DPT policy and practice
standards, and that they adhere to professional registration requirements.
The post holder will be an effective role model for clinical excellence across all the clinical pathways within Liaison Psychiatry.They will demonstrate visible leadership and take responsibility for ensuring a therapeutic environment, as well as leading on the professional development of the practitioners within the team.
The post holder will work to further improve practice, using the principles of positive risk management and new ways of working, and appropriate clinical pathways.
The post holder
will be required to undertake regular clinical work which will be subject to an
agreed job plan.
