Job summary
This is a permanent post of 18.75 hours principally based in the Honiton Core Mental Health Team. It is open to applied psychologists, psychotherapists, or psychological therapists registered with an appropriate body. The successful applicant will join the local Psychology and Psychological Therapy (PPT) team in East Devon. The post is managed by local PPT Professional Lead. The post will mainly be based in the locality, working with and alongside the local Core Mental Health, Assessment and Brief Intervention Teams and PCN Mental Health Team.
The team is friendly and committed, with shared strong values acknowledging the social and psychological determinants of emotional distress, developing Psychologically Informed Environments and Trauma-Informed Services. The service offers group, individual and family interventions in a range of models. We support each other through supervision, CPD events, team meetings and reflective practice groups. We have good links with local D Clin Psy and D Couns Psych training courses and M.Sc trainees in family therapy.
CPD is available through a number of routes. Individuals and teams can make applications for training bursaries and we have recently been able to support applicants for accrediting therapy trainings and a 2 day Devon wide training for PPT staff in Working with Racial Difference. CPD is also available through HEE funded trainings and these have included Family Therapy, MBT, EMDR and DBT.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced clinician who feels confident providing a variety of individual and group psychological therapy/interventions and who feels passionate about their practice, professional and personal development. The post-holder will provide a direct service to clients through a range of modalities, potentially contributing to our individual, group and family therapy provision.
The post-holder will be committed to working with colleagues of different professions and different organisations to deliver, and support the delivery of, psychologically-informed, trauma-informed services and support the local development of a Psychology Informed Environment. The post-holder will become an important part of the PPT team and the teams with which we work; working to ensure that every client receives high quality care by offering psychological and psychotherapeutic opinion in MDTs, supporting the work within our core mental health and assessment teams, through consultation, supervision, the facilitation of reflective practice groups and the provision of training and joint working.
The post-holder will be the senior psychological practitioner in the team and support a 0.5 FTE Band 7 colleague. You will have the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a clinical team. The post-holder will be required to receive and offer supervision appropriate to their level of experience and training and be supported to prioritise tasks, and manage their own workload.
