Devon Partnership NHS Trust is looking to recruit an Apprentice within the Finance team.
As a Trust, we see the value in supporting the development and progression of our people through apprenticeship pathways, combining vocational learning with on-the-job experience.
You will undertake a Level 3 Accountancy Apprenticeship whilst you work closely with your new team to gain the essential skills, knowledge and behaviours for this new role.
Entry/Eligibility Criteria
Employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week by the organisation on a fixed contract for the duration of the apprenticeship.
You will need a Level 2 Functional Skills, GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) or above in English and Maths.
Due to the current Government eligibility criteria for Government funded apprenticeship schemes, we are currently only able to accept applications from candidates over the age of 16 who have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years, and who are not already in any form of Government funded education.
You do not hold a pre-existing Level 3 (E.g. A-Level/Diploma) or higher qualification in Accountancy.
You will complete your apprenticeship with a local provider.
Main duties of the job
The apprenticeship will be based in the Finance team and will support the key functions listed below, on a rotational basis.
Accounts Payable, Receivable and Cashier
To support the Assistant Accountant Cash Management in providing a reliable and effective Cash Management service to Devon Partnership NHS Trust in respect of the accounts payable, receivable and banking functions. Supporting the processing of income and expenditure invoices, payment runs and credit control function.Investigating enquiries and queries from banks, suppliers, staff and customers (including patients) and provide advice and assistance as required. Responsible for co-ordinating petty cash and purchase cards for Trust staff members.
Management and Financial Accountants
To provide assistance to the Senior Accountants, Accountants and Assistant Accountants in providing a reliable and effective Management and Financial Accounting service to Devon Partnership NHS Trust.
Procurement and Contracts
To provide assistance to the procurement and contracts management functions in providing a reliable and effective procurement and contracts support service to Devon Partnership NHS Trust.
Systems
To provide assistance to the Management Accountant and Assistant Accountant in delivering system developments to improve effectiveness and efficacies across the finance team and wider trust, in addition to managing the day to day maintenance of Devon Partnership Trusts finance systems.
