New Leaf is part of Devon Partnership NHS Trusts Vocational Rehabilitation Service. Our service has been developed from delivering many years of therapy, training and supported employment to adults living with a mental health condition who are working towards paid employment now or in the future. Set in a rural environment near Exeter overlooking Exminster and the Exe Estuary. New Leaf offers an opportunity for people to test themselves outside a medical environment, and develop themselves as a "person not a patient" within its different businesses.
Sowing the seeds of recovery was established in 1990. New Leaf Nursery is a commercial wholesale/retail plant nursery, producing a wide range of plants for the public and private sector. You will become part of the team within a comfortable, caring environment, and will be able to work alongside the technical instructors to support people in recovery to develop horticultural skills including commercial plant production, maintaining and growing on the allotment and pruning fruit trees in the orchard. We also harvest the apples for pressing our own apple juice.
Main duties of the job
Contribute to planning of daily activities and creating tasks linked to peoples individual goals
To participate in practical tasks around the nursery, allotment and orchard e.g. filling pots with compost, pricking out, potting on, dead-heading, watering and general plant husbandry
Contribute to development of horticulture at New Leaf
To work alongside colleagues and service users during the day
To be aware of health and safety and contribute to the maintenance of a safe working environment.
