We are excited to be advertising for a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join us at an exciting time in the CAMHS Eating Disorder Pathway.

We are currently in the process of mobilising a new county-wide eating disorder service to create a countywide provision for young people experiencing eating disorders including Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating, and Atypical Eating Disorders.

The post will be an ideal opportunity for a practitioner looking to develop their knowledge and skills within Eating Disorders and wider CAMHS provision.

Main duties of the job

Are you already an Assistant Psychologist looking to broaden your knowledge and experience as a stepping stone into your DClin? Or are you looking for your first role as an Assistant Psychologist following BSc/ MSc study?

We will ensure that this role offers you the opportunity to:

As a service, we will shortly be trailing the delivery of Adolescent Focussed Psychotherapy. This would be the first time a CAMHS Eating Disorder Service has considered implementing and embedding this NICE-recommended intervention within its delivery model and while the Band 4 Assistant Psychologist would not be expected to deliver this intervention, we would welcome you to be part of the training and the evaluation and review towards successful embedding and implementation of this intervention across our countywide pathway.

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.

CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to consultation with our service users and communities.

CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training.

Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.

  • Bachelor Degree at Honours level, giving eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society

Desirable

  • Further postgraduate training in relevant area of professional psychology, health and social care practice and/or research design and analysis.

Experience

  • Experience in working with children, young people and families.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with children and young people with emotional and mental health difficulties, in a clinical or healthcare environment and / or community-based setting
  • Experience of working with children and young people with complex needs, e.g, children in care
