Join us as a High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist Trainee in the Devon TALKWORKS service in January 2024. Gain high quality training & work in a service delivering evidence based, High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for people with common mental health difficulties. We are high performing & the 2nd largest NHS Talking Therapies service in England, with an award winning long term health conditions team.

We are looking for enthusiastic trainees who have a commitment to our local communities. Our teams cover Exeter, Torbay, Newton Abbot, Barnstaple & Tiverton, Tavistock, Ivybridge, Collumpton & Bideford. Your preferred location will be discussed during the interview.

The posts are permanent positions, starting at a Band 6 salary but rising to Band 7 upon qualification.

Main duties of the job

This is a training role within the NHS Talking Therapies Programme (formerly IAPT). The post-holder will work within TALKWORKS providing high intensity interventions whilst undertaking a programme of for this role. This intensive post will equip the post holder to provide a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range of complex problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective. The post- holder will work in the service for 3 days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attending the programme for the other two days.

The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

The post-holders will train to achieve a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies Practice offering High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for people accessing TALKWORKS with common mental health problems.

Part-time post holders will attend the same mandatory taught University days, two days (15hrs) per week, but will have the option to work in service for between 11.25 and 18.75 hrs per week. The taught and assessed components of the course will be completed in the first 12 months alongside full-time trainees, but part-time trainees will have up to 24 months to acquire the clinical hours required for course completion.

Supervision for the post-holders will be provided by the University and also by their local TALKWORKS team.
