Job summary
Torbay Psychiatric Liaison Service is based in Torbay Hospital and is a dynamic team of experienced professionals. It is a vibrant and at times, fast paced working environment that relies on a collegiate clinical team approach to presentations and referrals. We are looking for a current Band 5 grade nurse or other associated discipline with significant post qualification experience to join our team with a view to gaining the experience and training to be considered for recruitment to a Band 6 Post within 12-18 months. This is a developmental role in Liaison Psychiatry services and will provide a route to a Band 6 established post for the successful candidate.
The focus will be providing assessment and treatment planning interventions to people with mental health difficulties. The post holder will be an
effective member of the multi-disciplinary team, able to liaise and communicate effectively with medical professionals in the general hospital, social care, community mental health team colleagues, HTT and AMHPS. A good knowledge of Safeguarding, MHA 1983 and MCA 2005 will be an essential expectation of the role along with a willingness to learn and enhance your professional knowledge.

Main duties of the job
- Contribute to the safe and effective day to day operations of the service including the handling of clinical enquires.
- Contribute to the teams engagement including liaising with a wide range of other professionals and agencies.
- Provide and receive information some of which may be contentious, sensitive and complex to and from individuals and their families/carers and actively seek support as appropriate.
- Provide a high standards of written and verbal communication that is clear and in line with professional documentation standards
- Participate in clinical meetings, professional meetings, and clinical risk meetings.
- Communicate information in a way that makes it relevant and understandable for service users and carers, working in line with practice standards and operational policies.
- Actively contribute to multi-disciplinary team working.
- Facilitate fair access to social care services and promote social inclusion regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
- Undertake risk assessments and determine the appropriate course of action in a timely manner.
- Have an awareness of your own clinical competencies, knowledge and experience and ensure that you practice within this and seek support where required.

Hospital. Post will be for 37.5 hours per week and the shift pattern will cater
for a 24/7 service, both week days and weekends.

mental health services. The focus will be providing triage, assessment and recovery focused planning, referral and signposting treatment to people with mental health difficulties.

- An appropriate up to date professional mental health qualification eg RMN, OT or social worker on the appropriate professional body register and hold current registration with no restrictions. (It will be an essential requirement for newly qualified social workers to demonstrate that they have completed The Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) before commencing in post or there will be a requirement to complete this within the first 12 months of employment with the Trust)
