This is a great opportunity to join the HMP Channings Wood mental health team as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner

This post will support those most vulnerable and in need individuals within the prison establishment offering an intensive level of input to reduce risk to themselves and others.

The role is based within the existing prison mental health team working within a high paced environment and will allow any individuals to further develop excellent assessment and clinical skills.

Our patient group represents some of the most excluded members of society with their combination of severe mental disorder, substance misuse and serious offending. These individuals often have no access to services in the community so working with these individuals can allow you to make a real difference.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to demonstrate a high level of commitment, motivation and knowledge of working adults with needs associated to. You will be responsible for the assessment and care planning of a small caseload of patients.

This role will involve delivering high quality needs led support, clinical assessment and interventions and consultation. Also required to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and other agencies.You will have experience of working in a team.

You will often work under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for someone confident and capable. You will prioritise tasks, and manage your own workload, providing support for your colleagues where required.

You will become an important part of the team, working to ensure that every patient receives high quality care. You may be required to support the induction of new staff member, demonstrating activities to them and providing supervision to support administrators.
