Job summary

We are seeking to recruit an Interim Team Leader to join Forest House for 12 months cover (Fixed Term); if you are interested in working with an outstanding Trust to develop and deliver Inpatient treatment in mental health, then we would love to hear from you.

Forest House supports young people suffering from emotional, behavioural, and psychiatric problems, offering young people a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week service: assessing, treating and evaluating care through a variety of therapeutic techniques, including family work, individual work, group work and day-to-day milieu.

You will need clinical experience and the ability to provide strong leadership to contribute to the development and implementation of a high-quality service to meet the needs of children and young people in education settings. Main duties of the job

You will be expected to:

  • Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, assisting in the provision of a high quality service to students (and their families) experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The role requires skills in assessing, planning, organising, reviewing and supervision.
  • Involved in delivering informed processes and evidence based interventions to support the recovery of young people referred to the service. This work will be in accordance with clinical governance processes and professional standards.
  • Utilise skills and knowledge of CBT and child and adolescent mental health practice in order to provide clinical supervision to Senior Practitioners
  • Be responsible for establishing and maintaining team systems and processes for the effective operation of the team, including outcome measurements, audit and annual service policy review.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • RNMH/RNLD/RMN
  • Degree with experience of post graduate level study or the equivalent experience
  • ENB 998/Mentorship
  • evidence of management or leadership development
  • Current NMC registration
  • Teaching/training experience.

AREAS OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Management of staff in a multiprofessional setting
  • Minimum of three years post registration experience, two of which must be as a band 6
  • Detailed awareness of issues in inpatient service areas - legislation, DoH guidance, NPSA, PEAT, CQC, NHSLA, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act including an understanding of standards
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision, appraisal, preceptorship and staff support methods
  • Knowledge in current developments in mental health or learning disabilities care

Desirable

  • Experience of working in other care settings

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Essential

  • Recognises and reflects on barriers to effective communication, modifying communication in response
  • De escalation in managing verbal aggression of disturbed service users
