Job summary

Would you like to join an innovative organisation committed to the best possible care delivered by the best people? Beech Ward is looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Forensic Social Worker to join its team in Radlett, Hertfordshire.

Beech Ward is a 15-bed low-secure unit for men with mental illnesses and a history of offending behaviour who are at significant risk of causing harm to others. It offers specialist psychological, psychiatric and behavioural therapies and complex specialist rehabilitation to help patients prepare for their return to life in society.

This role is the perfect opportunity for an entry-level Social Worker with a strong belief in recovery for people with severe and enduring mental health problems and a good understanding of the Care Programme Approach, care management and safeguarding.

Staff benefits include 27 days annual leave, access to one of the UK's best pension schemes, flexible working options, childcare support, subsidised gym membership, access to discounts, and excellent training opportunities including participation in the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (AYSE) programme, which provides support and development for NQSWs in their first year of practice.

Main duties of the job

As our new Forensic Social Worker, you would be welcomed into a safe and supportive multidisciplinary staff team that would empower and encourage you to be the best version of yourself for the benefit of those we care for.

On a day-to-day basis, the role would involve working in partnership with service-users and carers; providing assessment, care-planning and coordination of care from a social care perspective; and liaising effectively with the multidisciplinary team and with external stakeholders.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and team-working skills, as well as the ability to organise their own workload and respond to crises in a calm and sensible manner. They need a good understanding of the relevant legislation and statutory guidance, including safeguarding, and must be prepared to model and promote the Trust's values at all times.

About us

At HPFT we provide an exciting and forward-thinking work environment, where staff feel valued and supported to reach their full potential. We are proud to be one of the top five recommended NHS Trusts to work for, and hold a CQC rating of Outstanding, making us one of the highest-rated Mental Health Trusts in the country.

On joining HPFT, you would be able to enjoy an extensive range of trust-wide staff benefits including:

  • 27 days annual leave
  • One of the best pension schemes in the UK
  • Flexible working options
  • Car leasing scheme
  • Childcare discounts
  • Wellbeing events and activities
  • A 24-hour staff support helpline

You would also benefit from regular supervisions, participation in the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (AYSE) programme, and the co-construction of your own personal development objectives to ensure you continue to progress and develop professionally.
