Job summary
We are recruiting for a full time eating disorders dietician working Monday to Friday. This is an exciting opportunity is to offer specialist dietetic and work alongside a supportive multi-disciplinary team cover two of Hertfordshire's Community Eating Disorder Service intensive support services:
- The Intensive Community Support Team (ICS) - offering home treatment to progress recovery within service users home's or local community over 3 day pers week.
- The Acorn Day Unit - offering day treatment within a tranquil day unit environment based at Rosanne House in Welwyn Garden City over 2 days per week.
Both roles are new within these services so you will have opportunity to develop the dietetic input using your established clinical skills and experience. As a dietitian experienced in working with those with an eating disorder you will require excellent motivation skills to support alongside colleagues progression for those who find improving nutrition extremely challenging.
You will be responsible assessing , collaboratively formulating meal plans with the service user/carers and setting weekly nutritional goals. You will provide nutritional psycho-education and guidance to your colleagues.
Both services are proactive of providing high standards of care and supporting colleagues. We have a shared positive and recovery focused approach to our treatment.
Main duties of the job
- Assessment and collaborative formulation of a meal plans for people under ICS, the virtual intensive treatment team whom ICS support and the Acorn Day Unit.
- Collaborative weekly nutritional goal setting with service users.
- Providing group nutritional psycho-education within the Acorn Day Unit.
- Guidance to team members on supporting weekly nutritional goals.
- Nutritional psycho-education to team members.
- Contribution to delivery of the Service Specification.
- Contribution to service evaluation.
- Liaison with dietitians/health or social care colleagues around service users nutrition.

The Dietitian will:
- Provide specialist assessment of nutrition of those under the care of under ICS, the Virtual Intensive Treatment (VIT) team whom ICS support and the Acorn Day Unit.
- Provide dietetic input over a range of mediums and in different locations.
- In collaboration with service users and carers the Dietician will formulate a meal plan and set weekly goals related to improving nutrition with the aim of a 0.5kg weight restoration
- Use high level skills to identify and overcome barriers to nutritional change using interviewing, counselling, and motivational skills. This will require well developed skills in negotiation, persuasion, tact and diplomacy.
- Guide staff supporting delivery of nutritional goals.
- Be responsible for the development and delivery of an evidenced based dietetic service to ICS and the Acorn Day Unit.
- Work collaboratively with the ICST, VIT, Acorn Day Unit and any other health providers working with service users.
- Provide nutritional psycho- education to service users and carers
- Work closely with the ICS, VIT and Acorn Day Unit nurse practitioner(s), and team leads to ensure any risks associated with nutritional changes are managed safely.
- Participate in the teams clinical meetings.
- Participate in other service user meetings as required/appropriate (CEDS team meeting, ward meetings, CPAs, etc.)
- Contribute to delivery of the ICS, VIT and the Acorn Day Unit service specification including contributing to data collection and evaluation.
- Participate in clinical, managerial, and professional supervision.
- Maintaining registration to required professional bodies.
