Job summary
This role is for a Dramatherapist working with adults with a learning disability in the community. This post is within a long established Arts Therapies Department based in Colchester, Essex and is an integral part of the wider learning disability team.
We are seeking a highly motivated Dramatherapist to join this well- established department with administrative and clinical bases across the catchment area. This post is open to both newly qualified dramatherapists or those with specialist experience in the clinical area of Learning Disabilities. Experience of working within the NHS would also be welcomed.
The post holder will hold an active caseload offering both individual and group dramatherapy. This post is well supported in terms of space, equipment, CPD opportunities, managerial, clinical and peer supervision as well as being a part of the trust wide arts therapies service.
This post is part of the services provided by Essex Learning Disability Partnership, hosted by Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. This post falls within services provided across North Essex. The successful post holder will provide services in both Colchester and Clacton.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this post are:
responsibility for a caseload, offering both individual and group dramatherapybeing an integral member of the Arts Therapies Team, assisting with allocations, service development, governance issues, communication and liaison with the MDT and IDT teams.
Band 7 responsibility will include when appropriate and possible: provision of clinical supervision and offering trainee placements.

To work as an autonomous clinical specialist within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) across North Essex; and provide expertise and consultation in providing psychological assessment and treatment, informed by an understanding of psychodynamic theory, of highly emotive individuals in the community and in-patient services. Service Users have a learning disability and complex needs including mental illness (such as Personality Disorder).
To assess, plan, undertake and evaluate Dramatherapy as appropriate through group and/or individual sessions, in accordance with service user care plans and contribute to MDT review processes.

- The assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating of both individual and group Dramatherapy sessions for community and where clinically appropriate, in-patient services;
- To act as Dept. link with Community Learning Disability Teams as necessary;
- The completion of risk assessments and other clinically related information as directed by Trust policy and procedure.
The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated arts therapies team consisting of 2 music therapists, 3 art psychotherapists and 1 dramatherapist (this post). Our main base is in Colchester, Essex where we have access to two dedicated arts therapies rooms and an office space. Each member of the team works on a Monday when we hold regular peer supervision sessions, team meetings and allocations meetings as well supportive conversations around the 'kettle'. We also benefit from having a Trust lead for all AHP professions as well as good working relationships with the other arts therapies across the different Trust Services. The successful applicant will join a Team that holds and demonstrates the overall Trust values of 'welcoming, kind, positive, respectful and professional' everyday and in all that they do for the Service Users referred to the Department.
