Are you a Band 5 looking for an opportunity to join an established, respected, dynamic team? We would love you to come and join us at one of two vacancies at either Kingfisher Court or Aston Ward, Lister Hospital, Stevenage. We are a team of Occupational Therapists, who work closely with Art and Dramatherapists, Psychologists and a Horticultural Therapist to provide a therapeutic stay for people using our inpatient services.
We cover the acute admission wards, as well as two treatment wards and a Psychiatric intensive care unit. You will become an integrated member of the team, providing evidence-based OT interventions and assessments. You will help take forward the Trust agendas on reducing restrictive practice, implementing sensory integration and Positive Behavioural Support plans and ensuring our practice is Trauma informed.
Training is available and personal development is actively encouraged. It is an exciting time to be coming into Acute Mental Health inpatient services, as the agenda is to increase the therapeutic interventions on the inpatient wards. There are many opportunities to become involved in leading parts of this development. There is also a focus on the physical health agenda and integrating this into our practice.
Main duties of the job
To provide assessments and intervention for people using our in-patient wards, as part of the Occupational Therapy team.
- To work effectively as a member of a team in providing feedback to the MDT information regarding the service users wellbeing and occupational performance.
- To provide a detailed occupational therapy reports when required, and to use evidence-based practice to engage service users in meaningful and appropriate activities, to promote independence, recovery and well-being.
- To develop, facilitate and deliver planned group-work and individual activities.
- To participate in the induction, training and education of students and other staff in this setting.
- To actively seek opportunities to develop leadership skills and other training offered.
- To provide supervision for non-registered staff, as agreed by the Specialist Occupational Therapist.
