Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for a committed Speech and Language Therapist to join the Community Learning Disability Team in Buckinghamshire. The successful candidate will work as an influential and integral member of a diverse multi-disciplinary team and will join the well-established Speech and Language Therapy service.

We welcome applications from SLT graduates and those due to qualify in the near future. Newly qualified SLTs will be supported at Band 5 level and following completion of a competency framework, they will be transferred to a Band 6 role without the need for additional recruitment. We also welcome applications from more experienced therapists and from SLTs already working at Band 6 level. Experience in working with Learning Disabilities and Dysphagia training are desirable, but they are not essential.

You will receive regular clinical supervision and support from the members of the Speech and Language Therapy team and will be actively encouraged to participate in continuing professional development.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work within the Community Learning Disability Team, working with adults who have a Learning Disability. The Speech and Language Therapy Team work with those who have communication and/or dysphagia needs and consult with them and their carers to collaboratively create treatment plans.

The post holder will need to be able to work independently and also in a team as multidisciplinary working is encouraged within the team. There is a network of Speech and Language Therapists across HPFT that provide peer supervision that the successful candidate will have access to.

There is a requirement to travel throughout the county of Buckinghamshire as is community-based role and therefore ability to drive a car is essential. Buckinghamshire is located just north of London, with direct train routes into the city centre from many of the county's historic and picturesque towns.The fast train into Central London takes under an hour. There are also excellent connections to the rest of the UK and the M25, A1 and M1 are all within easy reach.
