Job summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic clinical psychologist to head up the psychological service in our North Essex learning disability service.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work in partnership with the management team to ensure the provision of a high-quality specialist psychological service to adults with a Learning Disability in North Essex.
This is a Band 8c/8d development post. The post holder will be able to progress from Band 8c to band 8d once they demonstrate that they meet the competencies specified for Band 8d.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
- Registered with the HCPC
- Further training in a specialised area of psychological practice through formal post-doctoral training (diploma or equivalent), OR a combination of specialist short courses, together with an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice with an experienced clinical supervisor, at an equivalent level to a postgraduate diploma. Completion of a clinical supervision training (short course) sufficient to be able to supervise doctoral trainees.

- Substantial experience as working as a qualified practitioner within mental health services designed for meeting the needs of those with Learning Disabilities.
- Extensive experience of specialist assessment and treatment of Individuals with Learning Disabilities as a full member of a multi-disciplinary team located in community services or an inpatient setting.
- Extensive experience of working with a wide range of individuals with Learning Disabilities and presenting problems that present the whole range of complexity.
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and working with other agencies.
- Experience of teaching, training and professional supervision of other specialist practitioners.
