Job summary

We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurse Prescribers to join our friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity for initially 12 months on Fixed Term basis or Secondment.

The role will support the creation, mobilisation and delivery of the ADHD service within CAMHS, specifically working in either West or South Hertfordshire.

The post holder will work within the ADHD pathway and will support the team by managing a delegated caseload of service users that have an established diagnosis and treatment plan for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD).

The post holder will provide on-going appointments, prescribe medication as necessary and undertake all associated physical and mental health monitoring.

The post holder will work closely with the wider CAMHS teams. Training and Support will be given and these roles will work very closely with consultants and the ADHD team in an MDT style.

Experience inside the NHS is essential and helpful if you have awareness/experience with CAMHS and/or ADHD services.

The successful candidate will be highly proficient on PARIS, although training can be provided if required.

We would also consider part time applications.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for managing a case load of service users that have anestablished diagnosis and treatment plan for ADHD formulated by theConsultant. The post holder will provide on-going appointments, prescribemedication as necessary and undertake all associated monitoring.

Initially the scope of practice for the post holder would be to manage thetreatment of ADHD. This may be extended to other diagnoses based oneducation, training, development and achievement of competence.

Undertake all relevant physical health monitoring associated with ADHDtreatment e.g. height, weight, blood pressure and pulse. This may beextended to patients not on their own caseload.

To modify the treatment plan with respect to drug therapy once trained indiagnostic tools for ADHD management.

To act as a core member of the multidisciplinary CAMHS teamworking alongside doctors, psychologists and attending medicalreviews and other clinical case review sessions across a geographicalarea.

To provide specialist education and training to consultants, otherprescribers, other health care professionals, clients, relatives and carers.

Design and delivery of psycho educational sessions for parents andcarers, GP and schools.

The post holder will support the implementation of the shared carepathway for service users with ADHD across primary and secondary care.

The post holder will ensure cost effective prescribing across CAMHSservices.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Extensive post qualification experience
  • Nurse Prescriber Qualification
  • Additional areas of training e.g. leadership qualification or formal teaching qualification
  • Up to date knowledge of drugs available for prescription in mental health

Desirable

  • MSC in relevant field
  • At least 2 years' worth of specialist theoretical and practical knowledge and experience working in a mental healthcare setting, hospital
  • Experience of working within CAMHS
