Job summary

Our medium secure learning disability unit, the Broadland Clinic, Norfolk, is looking for a committed and enthusiastic qualified Occupational Therapist. Come and develop your Occupational Therapy career, or experience a new area of practice, supported by our full multi-disciplinary team.

This role could offer you an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge within a learning disability and mental health context. Working alongside an established senior OT, assistants and education staff, and an experienced MDT including Medical, Nursing, SLT, Psychology and Social Work colleagues. You will be supported to take part in regional Forensic and Sensory OT networks, as well as training as per your development needs. You would also have the opportunity to assist with or host student placements from the University of East Anglia, as well as supervising unqualified assistants. You would also have the opportunity to contribute to continuous quality improvement and service development.

Main duties of the job

Our motivated activity team at the Broadland Clinic Medium Secure service run a varied and exciting programme of Recovery focussedmeaningful activity and events. You'll have chance to design and deliver meaningful activities, interventions and events, and contribute to our vibrant timetable.We take great pride in working towards social inclusion, and you will support service users through their pathway from admission and assessmentto meaningful roles in the community. Most of our service users engage in voluntary work, several are at college. As a band 6 OT, you'll be working directly with our service users on developing their Occupational Identity, from the first steps in learning to cook at our dedicated activity centre, to perhaps volunteering at a caf in the city.

Essential

  • BSc/MSc/PG Dip Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Teams and associated packages.
  • Completion of preceptorship and/or evidence of having met the full KSF Gateway for Band 5 OTs
  • Evidence of relevant post grad training.

Desirable

  • Membership of RCOT, including specialist section
  • First line management training
  • Solution Focussed Brief Therapy training
  • Practice Placement qualification/A PPLE accreditation
  • AMPS/ESI/SI training
  • Broad base of clinical experience

Experience

Essential

  • Post registration experience in relevant clinical setting e.g. inpatient mental health or learning disability
  • Applied experience of providing both individual and group work interventions.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of using the Model of Human Occupation assessment tools, or others appropriate to area.
  • Experience of other specialist Occupational Therapy assessment tools
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience in providing advice, support and clinical supervision to junior staff and/or students
  • Applied knowledge of Recovery principles and how these relate to OT
