The Hertfordshire Community Eating Disorders Service are excited to recruit to their day unit.

The postholder will support patients with severe eating disorders in our day unit. We provide an intense programme of group therapies, meal support and 1:1 sessions with the aim of helping our patients recover from their eating disorder in the community and avoid an inpatient admission to a specialist eating disorders hospital.

We currently run the programme Monday to Friday, 4 days a week in person and one day a week virtually via MS Teams. Working hours are 8.15am to 4.15pm but there is a plan to offer an evening meal to our patients one day a week which will mean working till 6.30pm.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

  • be an experienced nurse with a strong interest in supporting people with a severe eating disorder to move towards recovery
  • have experience of working with people with mental ill-health (having experience of working with people with an eating disorder is desirable but not essential)
  • be supported by the existing members of the day unit team and members of the Community Eating Disorders Service which has been established in the county for many years
  • provide interventions to support both the mental and physical wellbeing of our service users as they try to recover from their eating disorder

Qualifications

Essential

  • RMN//DipHE in Mental Health
  • RGN/RNLD/RSCN with significant experience or training in mental health interventions that can be transferable to the eating disorders service work.
  • Live registration with NMC
  • Evidence of further professional development

Desirable

  • Training in working with people with an eating disorder.
  • Evidence of Mentorship and Preceptorship Training

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Detailed knowledge of legislation and practice guidelines concerning adult acute mental health.
  • Ability to understand professional relationships with staff, service users and all other stake holders.
  • Ability to lead and motivate self and others.
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and able to complete computer data entry and recording.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good team worker, able to demonstrate organisational skills.
  • Experience of working in mental health Settings.
