Job summary
Kingfisher Court is an 80 bedded Mental Health Hospital near Radlett, which opened in 2014. The Reception desk is open 24/7 and is managed by a team of reception staff over 7 days.
We have two reception staff on per shift:
Shifts usually include 2 x 12 hour long day and 1 x 6 hour shift and cover Sunday to Saturday on a monthly shift pattern.
Regular shift patterns: Sunday to Saturday
0800 to 1400
1400-2000
14:30-20:30
Some weekends and bank holidays are included in the shift pattern.
You will be expected to manage their workload during any shift period in a reliable and efficient manner. You must be flexible and able to multi-task in his/her contribution to delivering the work required in this post.
The hospital is a busy environment and the successful candidate should be able to remain calm and professional at all times. They will work closely with other members of the reception team to ensure a smooth and effective reception service. Although much of the job will be seated at the front desk at times you would be expected to visit wards or provide tours and inductions around the site.
Good communication skills are a must with clear English language skills.

Main duties of the job
Job Responsibilities:
- Be welcoming, professional and kind.

- Giving directions via phone or face to face.
- Checking ID.
- Answering telephone ,screening and transferring calls
- Using two way radios.
- Handing out keys, access cards and personal alarms to staff
- Using two way radio to contact ward staff for alerts and or emergencies.
- Reporting faults and maintenance jobs to the helpdesks.
- Be responsible for any photocopying and Scanning of sign in sheets.
- Running access reports
- Creating new access cards and managing the administrating of the system.
- Stock ordering.
- Be jointly responsible for room bookings, keeping bookable rooms clean and organised
- Assisting with events at Kingfisher e.g. moving tables and chairs as requested.
- Maintain up-to-date information on notice boards at main reception area and other areas as required.
- Ordering and maintaining stationary and other items.
- Ensure reception is kept neat and tidy and welcoming environment for visitors to the unit.
- Diverting on call phones
- liaising with, SU, Staff, Contractors, Visitors, Carer's, Family members and Emergency services..
- Site induction and tours.
- Fire warden duties.
- Turning alarms off.
- work as part of a team.
- Confident in lone working during sickness and absence.
- To relay confidential, sensitive information to colleagues and outside agencies, in person or on the telephone.
