Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

  • conduct assessments and provide therapeutic interventions, in line with NICE guidance and excellent clinical practice, to adults with a moderate to severe eating disorder and their families, who live in Hertfordshire
  • be part of an excellent multi-disciplinary team
  • be expected to work holistically with your service users, taking a care coordination function as required

Person Specification

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Doctoral/Masters level training in clinical/counselling psychology including specific models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS AND
  • Current registration with HCPC (at the time of appointment) OR
  • UKCP Registered as a Psychotherapist OR
  • Fully accredited CBT therapist with a prior core mental health profession or KSA qualification registered with BACP
  • Qualification in Mental Health Nursing, Mental Health Social Work or Occupational Therapy plus therapeutic training to certificate level, with Professional Registration

Desirable

  • Professional qualification degree level, which should include knowledge and application of research methodology
  • Additional specialist knowledge or CPD training relevant to the treatment of clients with eating disorders

AREAS OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings, such as outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings, including clinical experience working in adult mental health.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the life course presenting problems that reflect a range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
  • Knowledge of adolescent/adult development and adolescent/adult mental health
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of a NICE recommended therapy for Eating Disorders
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working and inter-agency collaboration
  • Ability to provide consultation to other professional and non -professional groups
  • Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi -media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings
  • Ability to take the appropriate action to address any issues or risks
  • Awareness of Child and Adult Safeguarding Procedures
