We are seeking a Specialty Doctor in General Adult Community.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for medical professionals who want to work in collaboration with our service users, carers and colleagues to provide the very best treatment and care. Professionals who want to develop and consolidate their clinical skills and competencies whilst working in a Trust with a patient-centred ethos and a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality education and training.

About your role

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of people of working age from the catchment area of his/her consultant who are referred or otherwise present to secondary care mental health services.

You will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services, and share with colleagues in the medical contribution to management.

The successful candidate will be based at The Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, which is one of the bases of the community teams covering the NW quadrant of Hertfordshire. Clinical work such as outpatient clinics will take place at The Marlowes but may also take place in another Trust location or other community destinations such as at a service user's home, in prison or in police stations.

You must ensure the relevant professional registration is maintained, including Section 12.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered medical practitioner with the General Medical Council (GMC). Possession of a current License to Practice
  • Section 12 approval (or eligibility for Section 12 approval).

Desirable

  • MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

CLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in General Adult Psychiatry with at least two years in an approved training scheme.
  • Experience of working in community settings in General Adult Psychiatry
  • Ability to work well in Multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent clinical skills using biopsycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.

Desirable

  • Clinical experience in a range of services within General Adult Psychiatry.

ACADEMIC SKILLS & LIFELONG LEARNING
