Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Consultant ClinicalPsychologist to join the leadership team in our Specialist CAMHS Tier 4service, sharing the role with an 8c Consultant Clinical Psychologist already in post. You would work with other members of the Senior Management Team in the Forest House Adolescent inpatient Unit (FHAU), to lead the Therapy team within FHAU, and provide psychological input to the Tier 4 Home Treatment Team. As Lead for Psychological Services in Specialist CAMHS, you would also provide Consultant Clinical Psychology oversight to the Eating Disorder Team (EDT) and Crisis Team (CCATT) by providing supervision to psychologists working in those teams.

The post is based at Forest House Adolescent Unit, which is situated inRadlett, 5 miles outside the historic city of St Albans and less than 10 milesfrom London.

Main duties of the job

You would join a strong leadership group across HPFT CAMHS, with closelinks to Psychologists across CAMHS and also across the Trust. In addition to the teams covered within this post, our CAMHS service includes fourcommunity clinic tier 3 teams, a Targeted Team for CLA children and a DBTteam. Clinical and counselling psychologists are within most of these teams, from assistant psychologists up to band 8b, with over 30 Psychology posts within our service. We also have Consultant Lead Clinical Psychologist posts within our Tier 3 service and one of the two Professional Leads for Psychological Therapists in CAMHS is also a Clinical Psychologist. As well as Consultant Leads for Psychology, we also have Consultant Leads for Systemic Psychotherapy and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.

In our Tier 4 service we value multi-disciplinary team working, with a range of therapeutic models, and our service includes psychologists, systemicpsychotherapists, nurses, OTs, art/drama therapists, social workers andpsychiatrists. We work with young people from 13-18 years, providingspecialist assessment and interventions (individual, family and group). As the most senior psychologist within the MDT, you would offer both direct clinical work and indirect work with the staff group.

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
  • Further training in a specialised area of psychological practice through formal post-doctoral training (diploma or equivalent), OR a combination of specialist short courses, together with an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice with an experienced clinical supervisor, at an equivalent level to a postgraduate diploma. Completion of a clinical supervision training (short course) sufficient to be able to supervise doctoral trainees.
  • Registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist

  • Extensive experience as working as a qualified practitioner within CAMHS
